Made to Move 5K

Join runners, walkers, and movers from across North America in a virtual 5K designed to energize, encourage, and remind us that we are MADE TO MOVE! You choose the time and location. Individuals and groups are welcome. Register by September 5, 2022 to receive your t-shirt by race day and don’t forget to report your time for a chance to be a Category Winner!

What’s the goal of this annual event?

The virtual 5K has a two-fold purpose:

  1. To create synergy among our churches who are participating in a health-promoting activity that is fun and enjoyable for all ages.

  2. To provide an opportunity for churches to engage their communities in a non-threatening way.

What prompted the creation of this event?

For nearly 10 years, the NAD has promoted various physical activity initiatives, including an annual 5K. Previously it was held at a central location working with a specific group such as Pathfinder Camporee. With the onset of the pandemic, we decided to transform this into a virtual 5K, which encourages individuals and groups to participate where they are and in whatever way is best for them. We provide support by supplying the shirts and participant medals, along with medals to the top fastest participants in each age category. We continue to encourage community-building through the Made to Move initiative, and seek to make it easy to implement by local congregations.

Arctic Mission Adventure will receive a portion of the funds from this event. Tell us more about that.

This is the second year of the virtual 5K, and it’s the first year that we are using a portion of the funds to support the mission of the Adventist Church within the North American Division territory. The AMA was chosen as the recipient for this year.

Can you give us a glimpse of what race day might look like?

Last year, Carolina Adventist Academy participated. You can watch a short recap of their experience on our YouTube channel
