Writing Topics for this Newsletter

If you have something you think is worth sharing then get in touch with Michaela Lawrence Jeffery, our managing editor. She edits each article before publication and she can walk you through a fine-tuning of your article as well as suggestions for how to create an article from an idea.

It’s possible that you already have the content in a sermon, a thesis, a dissertation, a newsletter to your church members, or some other space. Here are some tips from worship.org that’ll help you pull together an article from something you’ve already written.

In the meantime, here is what you should know:

  • We pay our writers $10 per 100 words and generally look for articles between 300 and 700 words.

  • Your qualifications for writing are basically that you’re currently serving in ministry and have something to say that you believe will be of aid to other pastors/chaplains.

  • Articles are due the first and third Monday of the month.

  • Just because you submit an article doesn’t mean it’ll get published—but usually it will.

  • Query Michaela ahead of time, if you’re wondering if what you have will work.

  • The newsletter is published the second and fourth Monday of the month (most of the time!)

Upcoming topics:

  • October - Clergy Echo Chambers/Challenges to Listening

  • November - Who's Discipling You?

  • December - Celebrations/Remembering/Transitions

  • January - Small Church/Rural Church
