Pro Love

By Abigail Minett

It is no secret that June 24 was a day of significant change in American history.

With the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, I saw division. I saw triumph. I saw grief. I saw relief. I saw anger. I saw resentment. I saw grace.

Friend, no matter your stance on these historical events, let’s remember some forever truths:

  1. God is still on the throne. He is still in control and will ultimately have the last say.

  2. He understands your heart, even if others may not. He can handle your honesty. Talk to Him. He’s listening.

  3. The church of God still needs unity. There is nothing Satan loves more than to cause division in the Body of Christ. Friends, let us always remember that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world” (Eph. 6:12) Your neighbor is not the enemy.

  4. Your friend who disagrees with you is still a part of the Body of Christ. They are still someone Jesus thought was worth dying for. Let that fact alone motivate our hearts to seek compassion and empathy for our brothers and sisters who believe differently than we do.

May we show Jesus. May we lay down our agendas and seek to understand one another. May we extend grace and compassion—to both the unborn children and to the women in our nation.

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

(1 Pet. 4:8)
