Conferences Affirm Women Preparing for Ministry

Conference Presidents and Ministerial Directors from across the North American Division (NAD) recently celebrated the growing number of women pursuing ministry at the annual banquet for female students at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs. 22 female students enjoyed meeting many potential employees at the April 8 gathering.

“Our goal is to double the number of women clergy over the next few years” remarked Brenda Billingy, Associate Director of NAD Ministerial. One president reflected “I am very impressed with the passion for Jesus, and the qualifications for ministry that I saw in the women I met tonight.”

In a report given to the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary (SDATS) Board, out of 957 students enrolled in all programs 145 were female. Of the 112 sponsored Master of Divinity (M.Div) students, 12 were female. Currently there are almost 400 pastors and chaplains serving in the NAD.
