At the end of my first sermon in my new district, I gave everyone two “LIKE Card” Bookmarks.
LIKE is an acronym
· List 5-10 people you’d like to see baptized.
· Intercede for them daily.
· Kindness shown through words and acts.
· Encourage Bible study & decisions.
The members kept one card in their Bibles as a prayer list and handed in the other copy for the church leaders to pray for. It didn’t take long before we started seeing God answer.
The first name on Candy’s card was her husband Cliff. Throughout their 42 years of marriage, Cliff had shown little interest in spiritual things. But Candy prayed. When the church had a revival seminar a couple months later, God gave Candy unusual courage to invite Cliff. He surprisingly agreed to come. God grabbed ahold of his heart. A few months later Cliff was baptized.
Cliff is one of many examples of changed lives whom God has led from a LIKE Card to the baptistery in the last 18 months. The LIKE Cards have been a simple resource to help everyone see how they can personally be involved in reaching their friends, family and neighbors for Jesus. We try to share LIKE cards often, especially with new members. We challenge everyone to pray for and pursue leading someone to Jesus within the next 6-12 months.
Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Luke 10:2).
