DMin in Urban Ministry

According to studies from the Brookings Institute, large metropolitan areas are still growing faster than the rest of the country. This serves to reinforce the advice given to Adventist Christians long ago: “We all need to be wide awake, that, as the way opens, we may advance the work in the large cities. We are far behind in following the light given to enter these cities and erect memorials for God. Step by step we are to lead souls into the full light of truth.” (Testimonies for the Church 9:101)

While much good work has been done by those laboring in the cities, the challenge remains great. The Doctor of Ministry program at the Andrews University Seminary is currently forming a cohort of ministry professionals who will focus their study and efforts on this specific need. This part-time program is formatted to fit concurrently with full-time ministry. A unique curriculum designed to implement an experiential learning process has the ultimate goal of developing skills for more effective soul-winning as well as transformative personal spiritual growth for the program participants.

The DMin Urban Ministry concentration makes a 56% tuition reduction available to all cohort participants. In addition, ten scholarships of $1,000 per year are offered by the NAD Adventist Community Services especially for this concentration. The Doctor of Ministry website provides more details as well as a link to the online application. The deadline to apply is February 2, 2019, but applying earlier will help ensure you have a place in the cohort, as spaces are limited. Contact for more information. Start your application today!
